Video has overtaken photos for organic reach on Facebook

Photos had the lowest organic reach, with only 3.7% page fans seeing a photo post [whereas] videos achieved an average organic reach of 8.7%. Links followed with 5.3% and text-only posts with 5.8% of organic reach.

In November 2012, Photos generated 53% more likes than other posts but the result is still unexpected as most people probably expect photos to outperform text-only posts.

In September 2015, Facebook started allowing Video profiles, so Video is set to grow further.
